Colchester Zoo is one of the finest Zoos in Europe with over 250 species in 60 acres. You can see “Playa Patagonia” with its 24 metre tunnel under the water to view sea lions swimming above your head and “Dragons of Komodo” for the infamous Komodo Dragons. At the “Spirit of Africa” you can see the breeding group of African elephants and at “Kingdom of the Wild” there’s Zebras, Ostriches, White Rhinos, and Giraffes in a huge savannah style enclosure - Just like being on safari! |

From an overgrown wasteland with poor gravel soil and boggy hollows, it has been transformed into an informal garden harmonising with the surrounding countryside. 5 Acres of attractively landscaped garden with many unusual plants, shown in a wide range of conditions from hot and dry to water gardens.
